Kids Jiu Jitsu - Ages 6 - 12 YRS
Our comprehensive self-defense program was created in response to parents’ desire for their children to have a place outside their homes to develop values such as responsibility, respect, and self-discipline. Our martial arts for kids provide a positive sense of self, along with the ability and confidence to appropriately defend oneself is a sure outcome from enrollment into our martial arts program. Kids gain positive knowledge that will last a lifetime in a fun and safe environment!
The main goal in Jiu Jitsu practice is to cultivate a person’s mind and body, not to use it as a means to vent one’s anger, frustration or emotional problems. The use of force is condoned only in self-defense or in the defense of those who are defenseless.
The benefits from our kids martial arts program are countless and go well beyond learning self-defense. Many of our parents have noted seeing positive changes in…
- Focus and concentration, resulting in better grades.
- Respect and discipline, resulting in improved behavior.
- Fitness and conditioning, resulting in greater overall health & wellness.

NORWOOD ADULT MARTIAL ARTS
Adult Jiu Jitsu - Ages 13 and up
Our adult martial arts classes focuses on street scenario self defense which are designed to teach students how to defend themselves in any situation. Jiu Jitsu loosely translates as ”the science of softness” or “the gentle art” and is applied to many schools of unarmed and hand-to-hand combat. The soft grappling style was intended to help unarmed soldiers to fight against armed enemies in any way possible, using the least amount of force necessary.
Jiu Jitsu was the primary unarmed combat method of the Samurai. Modern day Aikido, Judo, Brazilian Ju Jitsu and MMA are all descendents of Jiu Jitsu.

Motivation, excitement and fun are the essential tools we use to increase the learning and performance of our students. Martial Arts are good, clean fun for kids. We offer various school events that teach children how to get along better with others. Our classes also foster a spirit of teamwork and a sense of belonging.
Will my child learn to be abusive?

I have rank in another school/style. Can my current rank transfer to your school when I join?
We only accept rank from other American Jiu Jitsu Federation schools. However, we understand, appreciate and acknowledge the expertise you have from your previous style. This usually also means you have a deeper appreciation for the art. Some of our best students are those who held rank in a previous school or style and have taken off their belts to begin the next step in their martial arts journey.
How do I get started?
All beginner students start with our Introductory Program. Participating in the Introductory Program will give you the “hands on” experience you need to make an educated decision to choose the best school for you. Contact us so you can take an introductory class in order to make an informed decision.
How strict are the classes?
Adults are treated like adults in our school. We believe that if you are mature enough to be training in our style then you are mature enough to know what is and is not appropriate behavior. However, our kids classes are held to stricter guidelines to help them learn respect, discipline and focus.
Can anyone do American Jiu Jitsu?
Students of all ages, physical fitness and experience train in our school. We have students from ages twelve to sixty in our school. Our school enrollment is comprised of a balanced mix of male and female students, the vast majority with no prior experience. If you are not in shape – don’t worry! That’s why you need to enroll – you will enhance your fitness and lose weight while learning self-defense at our school.
I have not done a martial art before. What can I expect my first experience to be like?
You can expect a completely open and friendly environment in your first class and all classes. One of the best parts about our academy is the happy and welcoming nature of our instructors and students.
How long will it take to become reasonably proficient?
The time it takes to become proficient varies with each individual. Students are often amazed by their own ability and accomplishment in as little as six months. Training will give you the confidence of knowing that you can defend yourself in most situations. Your real goal should be to attain the rank of Black Belt. This level of proficiency typically takes about 5 years for adults.
How much time is needed for training in your style?
Progression in our system is based on training 2 days per week. To test each month you need a total of 8 classes. That being said we have a variety of options available to satisfy the financial and time requirements of all our students.
